ABOUT SURROGACY COMPASS

Surrogacy Compass was born after becoming a parent via surrogacy because I quickly realized that you cannot be on the surrogacy journey alone, no matter how large your village of support is. While I had an incredible professional team of clinicians, attorneys, financial advisors, and an agency that were AMAZING at their specialized role, there was not a quarterback looking at the whole journey telling me what was to come or a wedding planner helping to piece together such a monumental moment. I also had the most supportive family and friends that listened to every panicked and exciting call, yet nobody saw the entire picture.

Surrogacy Compass’ mission is to advise Intended Parents on navigating the complex journey of using a surrogate to build their family and serve as a supplemental resource that connects ALL the components of the journey and supports informed decision-making, guiding a smoother, quicker road to parenthood.

About Samantha

I was just 14 when I learned I would need to create a family one day through a non-traditional manner due to medical reasons, so I always knew I would have to consider surrogacy when the time was right. Flash forward 17 years when I got engaged, my now-husband and I were back at the fertility clinic trying to figure out the best way to build our family. We decided to take the plunge and explore surrogacy, as that was our best chance of having a healthy baby.

Once we made the decision to build our family via surrogacy, we were quickly overwhelmed with where to begin and who needed to be on our team to make our dream a reality. We didn’t know exactly what lied ahead, even though I had 17 years to prepare for this and did an enormous amount of research. Questions like how do I choose a surrogacy agency? How can I find a surrogate myself? How much will this process cost? How long will this journey take? What questions do I need to ask a potential surrogate? What happens during the psychiatric screening? What laws do we need to be aware of? What will the hospital stay look like? consumed us.

We were in a new world speaking a foreign language and making decisions on things like parentage orders and custody that were incredibly sensitive. We experienced the agony of waiting for test results and approvals, as well as the annoyance that comes with the abundance of consent forms. Suffice to say, our heads were spinning with every decision and consideration, even though we had the best team in place.

I want to help Intended Parents navigate this unique and profound experience. Knowledge is power and support during this journey is critical. I want Intended Parents to be equipped to make informed decisions that will enable a smooth journey to parenthood. As a project management and process improvement specialist for the past decade who navigated match to transfer in 6 months, I am here to help YOU navigate the surrogacy journey.
